Christmas Day and it's OK

Well, here it is, the special day for all we Christians (Catholic, Protestant, Presbyterian, Lutheran, etcetera) who enjoy celebrating the anniversary (traditional) of the birth of Christ.

I was up until 5 a.m. with Debbi trying to help wrap gifts, but she was in ill-sorts and I mainly kept a low profile, brewing tea and staying out of her way, mostly.

For my part, it's been an uneventful day so far. Danny, my landlord/roommate is keeping to himself in his bedroom across the hall and I'm doing the same in mine.

I had a flat tire Thursday and it was bitterly cold — the mercury had settled at about 2 degrees fahrenheit at the time — so I wasn't about to change the damn thing myself. And besides, all I had was one of those tiny, donut spares that, in all likelihood, would have put me in real jeopardy on the icy roads we had in the South Plains' "Hub City."

We've actually already had three snowfalls this year, most unusual in the 10 years I've lived here. We get rainfall laced with mud but not much snow. We're in for a cold winter, I think. I even predicted a snowy winter as early as September and it appears I may be right. By snowy I mean we'll get several storms with significant accumulations (significant means more than 6 inches). Point being, I didn't budget for an extra $100 outlay, which is what the new tire and install cost me, so I had to ask Danny to give me a raincheck on this month's rent. He said "OK" but he's acting a bit standoffish since I asked. Christ, I hope he doesn't tell me I have to move because I just moved in here and I don't relish even the thought of having to do it again so soon.

And so it goes.

I've tried to include a photo on this posting — the first time I've done that — so if this post comes out looking screwy that's the reason why. It's nice that BlogSpot is providing a photo option, thanks folks!

So hohoho! Merry Christmas. Hope your having a wondrous day. I'm out.
